Google user data
Privacy Policy
Effective August 28, 2026
gog CLI Personal is a private, locally operated command-line application used by Charles D'Andrea to access his own Google accounts. It does not offer public accounts, run an advertising business, or maintain a hosted database of Google user data.
Application operator
This OAuth application is operated by Charles D'Andrea for personal use. Questions about this policy or the application can be sent to charlesdandrea@gmail.com.
Data accessed
With the account owner's consent, the application may request the permissions needed to read and manage supported Google services, including:
- Gmail messages, labels, drafts, and Gmail settings;
- Calendar events, calendars, and availability;
- Drive files, folders, activity, labels, comments, and permissions;
- Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Apps Script projects;
- Contacts, profile information, People data, and Tasks;
- Classroom, Chat, Meet, and Sites data where the account supports them;
- Analytics, Search Console, Google Ads, and YouTube data; and
- Google Photos data created by the app and media explicitly selected through Google Photos Picker, subject to Google's API limits.
The application requests broad access because it is a general-purpose personal command-line tool. A requested service may still be unavailable when Google limits it to managed Workspace accounts or when the owner has not enabled that product.
How data is used
Google user data is used only to carry out commands explicitly requested by the account owner or by a local agent acting under the owner's direction. Examples include finding email, updating a calendar event, organizing a Drive file, editing a document, or returning an API result to the owner.
Google user data is not used for advertising, credit decisions, audience profiling, or training generalized machine-learning models.
Storage and security
OAuth client credentials and refresh tokens are stored on the owner's Windows computer in an encrypted local credential store. API responses are processed locally. Google content is retained only when the owner explicitly asks to download, export, back up, or otherwise save it.
Access is protected by the security of the owner's computer, the encrypted credential store, Google's OAuth controls, and the specific permissions granted by the owner.
Sharing and disclosure
Google user data is not sold or shared with data brokers, advertisers, or unrelated third parties. Data is transmitted to Google APIs as required to perform the requested operation and returned to the owner's local environment. The owner may separately direct the application to send, share, upload, or modify content through Google services.
Retention and deletion
The application itself does not operate a remote user-data store. The owner controls any files or exports saved locally. The owner can remove local credentials from gog CLI and revoke the application's access at any time from the Google Account permissions page. Locally saved exports can be deleted using the owner's normal device controls.
Google API Limited Use
This application's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Policy changes
This policy may be updated if the application's capabilities or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
